One of my favorite places in Istanbul is the Suleyman Mosque built to honor Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent. I admired the filigree patterns along the bottom of the domes, and was inspired to replicate the concept in textile. It is among my best selling hats.
This hat is fully lined, with a band of heavy lace and beadwork just above a fur cuff. This style works particularly well in brocades. The lace is usually new, but the rest of the materials are gleaned from second hand sources.
